'Hatching' hope for the childless
The New Year has brought much cheer to a couple from Tamil Nadu as they welcomed their new born baby girl weighing 2.75 kg on January 1st, thanks to 'Laser Assisted Hatching' - a revolutionary technique in the field of assisted reproductive techniques (ART).
The technique was used by a team of experts lead by gynecologist Kamini A.Rao, Medical Director of Bangalore Assisted Conception Center. Dr. Rao announced that the State Government has evinced interest in starting infertility treatment in Bangalore's Vani Vilas Hospital. |

Obesity in children is not "cute" but a matter to be taken seriously, Dr. Rao warns. The good news is that a diet designed to reduce weight could reverse the trend. Such children should be given a nutritionally balanced diet and told to exercise more, Dr. Rao said.

News report quote Dr. Kamini Rao, the medical director of the Bangalore Assisted Conception Centre as saying that the incidence of couples seeking assisted fertility was greater in the IT sector. The solution she said, lay in making definite choices and lifestyle modifications by restricting working hours and cutting down on cigarettes and alcohol. She also called upon companies to enforce leisure hours.
